When working cows you’d like a horse that naturally focused on the cow and wanted to get it to move or block it from moving somewhere. That is known as “cow sense” and it is largely inbred. Some horses have it, most don’t. The real test it to put a horse by itself into a pen of cattle and watch what he does on his own.
