A&E has given a green light to Longmire, a pilot movie based on Craig Johnson’s Walt Longmire Mysteries.

Longmire is named after its central character, Walt Longmire, the local sheriff in rural Wyoming.

Longmire is a production of the Shephard/Robin Co. and has been shooting in Los Alamos, Taos, Madrid, Las Vegas and Santa Fe.

It stars Katie Sackhoff (Starbuck, from “Battlestar Galactica”), Robert Taylor from “The Matrix,” and Lou Diamond Phillips, most recently seen in “Numb3rs.” Other cast members include Bailey Chase, Cassidy Freeman and Adam Bartley.

The production is employing at least 80 New Mexico crew members and more than 75 principal actors and extras.

Galisteo Basin now a "Cheyenne Reservation"

Parts of the movie were shot this week about 1/4 mile from where I live. Across the road the New Moon Overlook Galisteo Basin development was turned into the Cheyenne Indian Reservation and the road to my home had a sign saying it was now the Bighorn (Wyoming) National Park. Fun to watch the film crews all over town.
