Of the 200 cattle breeds one of the most popular for beef production is the Red Brangus. This breed was originated by breeding Black Angus cows and grey Brahman bulls in the 1930s. Red Brangus cattle combine the hardiness, disease resistance and unmatched maternal instincts of the Brahman breed with the superior carcass quality, fertility, maternal and milking ability of the Angus. And they seemed very heat tolerant.
You’ll find them primarily in Texas and the Southwest but they are everywhere you find cattle producers.
In 2008, the American Red Brangus Association, celebrated its 52nd year as an organization. Jim Monaghan has served as the association’s executive director for the past three years. He has been a Red Brangus breeder for sixteen years.
