If you follow the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) you know the name Jeff Robinson. Jeff is the top stock contractor and has really built an empire
Bulls are scored every ride, regardless of whether the rider makes 8 seconds. Scoring by each judge is a maximum of 25 points for the bull and 25 points for the rider. The bull rating is an average of the scores the bulls receive. The closer to 25, the better the rating.
Judges look for bulls with speed, power, drop in the front end, kick in the back end, directions changed and body rolls. A body roll occurs when a bull is in the air and kicks either his hind feet or all four feet to the side. The more of these characteristics a bull displays during a ride, the higher the mark is for the bull.
Jeff has 4 of the top 20 bulls at the moment (Voodoo Child, Uncle Buck, Chicken on a Chain, Major Pain). There are probably 5,000 bulls at play in any given year at the various levels of the sport so to have 4 of the top 20 is amazing. You can see all of his bulls and their scores by clicking HERE.Jeff lives in Mars Hills, North Carolina and business is done under the name Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls. He’s a creative businessman and has managed to talk celebrities into becoming partial owners of his top bulls, mostly for bragging rights.
Larry the Cable Guy is a partial owner of Chicken on a Chain, the PBR’s top bull in 2007. Jeff also is extremely good at marketing – for example Chicken on a Chain has his own MySpace page as do several other of Jeff’s bulls.
And Jeff is modest. I couldn’t even find a picture of him on the internet. I heard Jeff recently describe himself as “just a hillbilly from North Carolina”. Right. A hillbilly with a very large bank account.
